GG's Caramel Corn
GG's Caramel Corn
6-8 quarts of popped corn
Cook:
1 pkg of brown sugar
2 cubes of butter
1 tsp. salt
1/2 C. Karo Syrup (dark of white)
Boil to soft ball stage, don't boil too long. About 5 Min.
Remove pan from stove.
Add:
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. Vanilla
Stir
Pour mixture over popped corn and mix
Bake for approx. 1 hour at 250 degrees.
Stir occasionally. Caramel corn will be done with it is dry and crisp.
GG always talked about her 5 food groups. Candy, Caramel Corn, Cookies, Cake and Pie. So it's only fitting that I post her Caramel Corn recipe. She always spread so much happiness and joy when she was in the room and always talked about her 5 food groups with a sparkle in her eye. She lived to be 3 weeks shy of 102, so I guess that's one way to say this caramel corn won't kill you! lol!
