Danish Dessert
Danish Dessert
This is a Brown family recipe served on special occasions. I wanted to make it for Alyvia's baby blessing and I sent David to get some danish dessert mixes at the grocery store. He searched for 3 hours and could not find any. This is when we realized that they don't sell danish dessert mixes on the east coast! Now I buy them online and always have atleast 2 in my pantry for special occasions. This dish is a great one to make ahead of time as it tastes better and is more firm after spending a day in the refrigerator.
Cookie Like Crust
2/3 C Soft Butter
1 Egg
(Mix together, then add to 1 yellow cake mix and combine)
Press dough into the bottom of a greased 9x12 pan or baking dish, forming a crust. Don't press too hard or the crust will be hard.
Preheat oven to 325 degrees
Bake at 325 degrees for 12-15 min
Set aside to cool
Cream Cheese Layer
8 oz Softened Cream Cheese
1 C. Powdered Sugar
2 Pkg. Dream Whip (made according to package)
(Combine all ingredients. Put in a sealed container and chill in the fridge)
Danish Dessert Layer
2 pkgs of Danish Dessert (made according to box, the pie filling directions. Set aside to cool)
2 pkgs fresh strawberries or similar amount of fresh raspberries washed and completely dried, then sliced. (If they are wet, they can make the filling have too much liquid)
After Danish filling has cooled, fold in sliced strawberries. Should be a thick texture. Cover and put in refrigerator until completely cooled.
Make the Danish Dessert
Put cream cheese mixture into cooled danish dessert crust. fill 1/2-3/4 full. Then, dump on the strawberry mixture, filling the dish to the top. Cover with Saran wrap and chill in fridge until ready to serve. Serve Cold.
